Interview with Young Ef

Young Ef was picked as DJ of the month for August 2008. Here is an interview I conducted with her:

OPENING

Tell us a bit about yourself, your name, where you’re from, and anything else?
umm im young black female and just dont give a fuck. nah im jokin but im 22 years old and im a hip-hop o holic and i just enjoy creating music and fucking bitches lol

MUSIC

Where did you get the name Young Ef, what does it mean?
I have had a lot of Emcee names over the years. It started out as Gylitter Blaze then I Was GB then From there I was Effervescence. And Effervescence is kind of long lol so I droped it to Ef or Effer V on da block tho —–s call me Dub or dubs so that is where Young Efdub came from. I know its weird but thats da truth lol.

What genre(s) of music do you produce? What’s your favorite?
Hip-Hop All Day..Im working on other Genre’s but i do mostly hip-hop and a lil R&B

How long have you been making blends/remixes/DJ’ing? What first got you interested?
About 5 months lol

What’s your inspiration?
Wack Music

Do you only do blends/remixes or do you DJ parties/clubs e.t.c?
Im working on getting my gig game up ive done small parties so far but im working on tha club scene. Does CP Radio Count?

Do you use software or turntables for your remixes/blends? Which software (if any)?
Cdjs and Virtual Dj. But Virtual DJ can be a beast by itself depending on your skill level

When did you decide you wanted to take your music seriously?
8 years old.

What are you trying to do with your music? Do you want to help your community? Are you trying to get rich? What is your goal for your music?
I would like to save the state of females in hip-hop id like to show that we as females can do everything men do if not better. I know a lot of women had that same message but none of them were openly gay and none of them were half as talented as me lol

Do you have any kind of management, publishing or distribution teamwork behind you? If so what are their responsibilities?
KDOT holla at cha boy! thats my —– he handles a lot of manger like duties for me when he can and we have a team of people me myself and I all working hard for dub lol

What are some accomplishments that you have achieved, and are most proud of?
Ummmmm…. Let Me Get Back To Yall When I Get Some Plaques lol

Have you ever made any contact with big time people in the industry and do you keep in contact with them?
Nope but ive met a few of those lames lol
